The first E chord in each verse is alternated from E to E7, back to E and so on. The first A chord in each verse is played with all of the guitar strings open, then he hammers the entire A chord on to the open strings. The most important part of the sound is after each A chord is played, he walks down to the E chord with a G bass note. That little walk-down is the hook of the song in my opinion. This is pretty simple, kind of a blues progression. What makes it difficult is the finger picking style that Townes uses when he plays it. It's the typical folk pattern, fingers play the high strings with the thumb playing alternating bass notes, but there are a lot of little intricate things that he does to make it sound good. I haven't been able to find it anywhere, so If anyone can tab it, let me know-----------Jeff
